Day 63: Another Rainforest Day

The title of today's blog reminded me immediately of my all-time favorite group, Chicago, and their song, "Another Rainy Day in New York City." Made me smile, even though many of you probably are too young to even remember the song!

I thought I would share some pictures with you that show what the kids are doing to prepare...

Hannah, Cedric, Helena, Jess, Grace, Adaira, and Hamed
working on their invitations

Patrick focused on his poster

Sophia and Zelin hard at work

Pedro has a lot of work ahead of him!

Paper Mache Queens: Ashley and Daliana

Anabel, Genna, and Amdry

Adaira, Hamed, Hannah, and Cedric...still at it!

Danny: total focus (for the moment!)

At Heather's Pizza for, well, pizza!!!!
Tonight Hannah had a volleyball game so we splurged a bit and went out for pizza at Heather's, which is supposed to be the best pizza on the island, before the game. I can certainly vouch for its awesomeness!! We had olive oil and garlic crust with spinach, feta cheese, and tomato. Amazing!

Alejandra and Hannah: classmates and teammates

The Team!
We then headed to the game and Hannah's team played really well (so did the other team, for that matter!) They have a great program here, where girls start playing at quite a young age and they work hard on training them well and teaching teamwork. It's been a very positive experience for Hannah so far!

When we were driving home, though, Hannah burst into tears. She talked about how homesick she is and how much she misses everyone. That was rough. Once we got back to the house and she had showered, she said she was tired and ready for bed, so by now she's hopefully having some wonderful dreams of loved ones.

I can especially relate to her tonight, as four very dear friends of mine are on the weekend trip the five of us have done for the past eleven or twelve years. But this year I'm here. They're texting and sending me pictures but, man, is it tough.

Maybe tomorrow we'll try and do some snorkeling. That might cheer us both up a bit.

Thank you, God, that today held some very positive things, even though this evening has been not so fun. I'm glad tomorrow is on its way...
